Elsie Marie (Dickey) Ensey, 87, of Paris, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026, with her sons at her side.
A celebration of her life is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 20th at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Fortenberry officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 – 2 p.m. on Wednesday. Private burial will be made in Providence Cemetery.
Mrs. Ensey, the daughter of Marvin Dickey and Theresa Fossett Dickey, was born Feb. 18, 1939, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She graduated from John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City and received her degree in education from Oklahoma State University. It was during this time that she was active in the OSU Baptist Student Union and there she met a young man named Don Arthur Ensey, Jr. Following her graduation, she taught in Stillwater, Oklahoma until Don graduated from veterinary school. When the couple moved to Paris, she taught at Rosa Pearson Elementary School for several years.
Elsie enjoyed playing bridge, water aerobics, and was active in the garden club. She also spent time working with stained glass, china painting, macrame and crocheting. While Elsie had many interests throughout her life, her greatest devotion was to her family. The wonderful meals she prepared were one of the many ways she showed her love, bringing family and friends together creating lasting memories and strengthening the family bond.
She created cherished traditions, built a legacy rooted in love, and leaves behind memories that will continue to shape generations to come. She truly embodied a servant’s heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dr. Don A. Ensey, Jr., whom she married on June 2, 1961, building almost 57 years of family and memories before his death on May 1, 2019. Also preceding her in death was a brother, Johnnie Dickey.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Ensey and wife Sheila and Greg Ensey, four grandchildren, Grace Ensey, Maggie Ensey, Allison Ensey, and Jake Ensey and one sister, Donna Dickey along with several nieces and nephews and a plethora of friends.
