Jonathan Paul Conder, 61, of Paris, passed away Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, at his home.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6th at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Bro. James Oldfield officiating.
Jonathan, the son of William “Bill” Conder and Joyce Maggard Conder, was born April 30, 1964, in Paris, TX. In 1982, he graduated from Paris High School. He attended classes at Paris Junior College and was a member of the Texas Army National Guard prior to enlisting in the U. S. Navy in 1985. Jonathan retired in 2005 and relocated to southern Indiana, where he worked until he returned to Paris in December 2012.
He began sketching at the age of 3 and took Art electives at Travis Middle School and Paris High School. He was mainly an intuitive artist who worked with various media and subject matters. His travels provided many multi-cultural experiences to draw inspiration from, and he embraced realism and abstract themes with equal intensity. Commercial successes included illustrations for local author Wesley Tallant’s “The Wishing Elf” and cover art for “The Yellow Rose”. He was a talented musician and enjoyed many genres of music. Jonathan was an active member of Bonham Street Church of Christ and completed a Fisher’s of Men course through the church. He had a huge heart, was a humane person, and was a lover of all animals, especially cats, and would feed any cat in need of food and kindness.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Andrew “Andy” Conder. Survivors include a son, Steven Conder, five cousins, Melissa Stover and husband Danny, Stanley Wayne Maggard, Tammy Kelley, Denise Cooper, and Gala Bivens along with a host of friends including a dear friend, Kelley Ferguson and husband David.
The family would like to extend appreciation to Matthew and Callie Rushing.
